Everything is just so much easier when your kiddo's parents are in your corner, don'tcha think? I try to keep my parents as informed as possible - from sending home a monthly calendar with info on the happenings for the month, standards & curriculum for the month and any other little tidbits that seem important at the time, to keeping my website updated with all kinds of important info - to my weekly "Friday Note".
Each Friday I send home a "Friday Note" that lets the parents know about their child's behavior for the week as well as updates them on what's on the agenda for the following week. I made a template in Word. It is created with 2 copies of the note on one page. I set it up so I can fill in the note on the left side of the page, and then when I print it, the right side of the page is automatically updated. Two copies of the same thing on one page with minimal work! YAY! :) Then all I have to do is cut it, fill in the child's name and circle their behavior for the week. Time saved, trees saved... it's all good!
Here is a more generic template for you to use if you're interested. When you enter the dates into the daily boxes, hit "tab" so that the "th's" and "nd's" shrink up and the numbers fit properly. Remember, you won't see the right side updated until you go to print it. It should appear properly in the print preview if you want to double-check it before you print. In order to view the fonts properly you will need "smiley monster" and "pea missy" from Kevin & Amanda's fabulous fonts!
I hope you find it useful. Let me know how it works out.
