Currently and a Story About a Ghost

Normally, I have some kind of complaint about Farley's "Currently"... something like.... ack! Where is all the time going?

Not this time.

I'm happy to see October's currently is here. A month of school already finished! Wow! It's zooming along, splendidly.

Halloween is in October. I like Halloween. I wish more people did - so we could do more "halloweeny" stuff at school without upsetting/offending others. It's all so much fun.

Where's My Mummy is such an adorable, amazingly cute book. We do a little craft with it too. You can check out my post about it {here}.

Dorrie the little witch is the main character in my most favorite childhood books.

I know, I'm showing my age.

I truly adored Dorrie. I read and re-read the entire series by Patricia Combs over and over again when I was little. I made a beeline to Dorrie's section of the library ALL the time.

I even owned a few of them. I should have held on to them. They are collector items now.

It was very fun to find other Dorrie fans on Pinterest. Here are a few pins about good ol' Dorrie.

***A Ghost Story***
This week, one of my brightest students was suddenly crying, sobbing, uncontrollably. Out of nowhere... just bawling.

"What happened? Are you alright?"  No answer. Tears. Total anguish.

I was panicked. He couldn't get out any words.

"You guys! What happened?" His entire table group just stared.

Then one whispered, "Ghosts."

Ghosts.

Huh?

"What do you mean, ghosts?"

"Kid A was talking about ghosts and Kid B started crying."

Huh?

"Kid B is that why you are crying? Is it ghosts? I'm confused."

"Yes! He-(sob)-said-(sniff)-they-(sob, sob)-are-(gulp)-real!-(bawl bawl bawl)"

WT?????? I really had no idea what to do with that.

"Honey, if Kid A said the sky was purple would he be right?" I said.

"{sob} {confused glance at me through bleary eyes} ... no" he replied.

"Would it make you upset if he said the sky was purple?"

"No."

"Well I think you need to act like this is the same thing. Just because he said it, doesn't mean you have to believe it. {I mean he's not the INTERNET where everything is true! DUH!} There is no reason for it to upset you."

"ok"... end of crying. Just like that. Snap. Tear faucet off.

"Kid A I'd like to see you outside please."  Outside we go... "What in the world did you say to him?"

"I told him the guys that are on ghostbusters are real."

****seriously****

I had nothing to say to that.

Still don't know what to say. I don't think we'll be doing any ghost crafts this year.
;-P
