Got Goats?

Got goats?

We do! Our city has a huge rural area. It's mandated that it stays that way. It's pretty cool. The lot beside our school is in the care of goats!

They keep the weeds and grass under control.

Trim the lower limbs of the trees.

It keeps them happy.

It keeps the lot neat and clean.

A big truck comes and picks them up and moves them to various areas that need "grooming".  They do a little circuit. After a while, they'll be back beside our playground.

The kids love it. They come back from recess with all sorts of goat stories. When I was taking these pictures the kiddos were telling me the names of the goats. They've named them! Who could resist? They are pretty adorable.

What a great way to keep nature in check, huh?

I added a few things to my Patriotism and President's Day Pack. One of the items I've added is this anchor chart.  I also added a couple of bulletin board headers. If you've already purchased it, please go back and re-download it.

I know it's kind of late. But, I am in the middle of using the unit and decided I should add those elements, since they are on my classroom walls. =D

This week we will be finishing up the patriotism unit with the If I Were President writing lesson - culminating with the Washington craft. AND we'll be doing a lot of assessments. Boo.

If you need to re-download to get the latest updates or you'd like to grab a copy for this week (or to save for next year) just click to visit one of my stores.

This science standard is always one of the kids' favorites. We'll be getting started with this unit in March.

Yay for long weekends, right?! I hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow U.S. peeps. Everyone else... don't work too hard!

Love that your kiddos named the goats. What a hoot! We're already thinking of the endless writing activities this could inspire. Can't say we have ever come across anything like it. So fun!

  5. First of all, those drawings are amazing!! You are so artistic. I might need you to come into my classroom and draw some things for me! ;) We don't have goats or anything... but perhaps there is some other way of convincing you? I love your kiddo face as the president head. So cute!! Thanks for showing and sharing those pictures! Hope you enjoyed your weekend! :)

  8. Love the goats! My childhood home was on 3 acres and we had several different types of pets, including two goats. We named them Salt and Pepper and they were great lawn mowers!
